Campaign
started in 1997 by Friends of the Earth Finland criticises an alliance between
Finnish forest giant UPM-Kymmene and Southeast Asian APRIL.
The
purpose of the UPM-Kymmene / APRIL - campaign is to get UPM-Kymmene to stop its
cooperation with APRIL unless APRIL changes its ways of operating. Currently APRIL
is clearcutting rainforest to make pulp and using lands that belong to local communities.
